The Love Dare selling big

The Love Dare , a real-life version of the once-fictional book that is at the heart of Fireproof , is selling like hotcakes.  The Love Dare has already sold over 300,000 copies, and is entering its 3rd printing.

Funnily enough, this book wasn't even meant to be.  The Kendrick brothers didn't sit down and write it after they started screening the movie.  They did so in response to the high demand from people who attended early test screenings.

I'm glad the book is doing well, as is the movie, but there is a nagging voice in my head that says that this is just another example of people turning to a book to help their lives or marriage instead of actually doing real counseling or discussion.  If this helps people, that is great.  But I think that people rely upon such books all too much for easy solutions to difficult problems.  "Just follow these 40 steps and everything will be ok."

Not true.

Every little helps. Ultimately we should turn to God first and then let Him show us what to do and how to go about things. Sometimes He will lead us to get counselling (as He did recently with me)and other times it may be to buy a book (I learnt most of my business & film practice from studying books that helped me with specific subject matters in those areas) or just to be mentored and so on and so forth. Turn to God first before turning to anything else - it helps with accepting the changes when they need to be made He will eventually bring. In everything you do, put God first, and He will direct you and crown your efforts with success.
